little charmu :: minneapolis family photographer
There is nothing better to me than family filling my home for an extended period of time … And when they space themselves out so I get to see more family over more time I couldn’t be happier!
Several weeks ago now the girls and I got to share our place with this little crawling (who doubles as a dust mop) kiddo. The girls were definitely skeptical of CharMu (short for Charlotte Murray) and kept their distance for most of the weekend. For some reason babies weird them out – maybe it’s because it’s a moving creature that is about their size but is missing a tail? That makes the most sense to me…
While it’s clear from my images all over my website and blog that I photograph pets, every time I play with this peanut I want to work with kiddos more and more!! Come on – complete cuteness and utter happiness, right??
… I love these next ones … she is so focused on that wad of gooey deliciousness and then a super quick ‘I’m going for it!’ decision was made. Luckily mom caught her quick
and check out sweaty nap hair! … I’m pretty sure I look like this every morning less the incredibly excited face.
such a CUTIE!!! if you haven’t seen her past photos and just can’t get enough of those smiles, check out her itty bitty baby photos here and her helpful assistant photos here.
Besos!

I know it’s not going to shock anyone when I say that I love cats. No one fell over? K good. But what if I was to say that I met a cat that if my girls knew how smitten I was for her I might be locked out of the house? … That may have gotten some people!
Meet pretty, pretty Penny!
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL, right?? She is a pretty fantastic cat who has some pretty fantastic owners!! Michelle and Enrique own Woody’s Pet Food Deli, the amazing place I go to get the girls their meat muffins. Penny’s story with the family begins in their St. Paul store where she was a foster kitty. It wasn’t too long before Michelle and Enrique decided that her home was with them in their home. I was thrilled to meet up with them and take photos of this pretty, pretty kitty! And wow, the girls would be crazy jealous with her set up … she has a kitty condo that has feathers, carpet and tunnels that go from the floor to almost the ceiling, a bottomless box of treats and a leash attached to the patio door so Penny can just wander around the yard.
She has rather stunning eyes, wouldn’t you say?? Thanks again Michelle and Enrique!! You have all been fantastic to work with
To see an ENORMOUS version of Penny (and to get some fantastic food for your 4 legged family member), swing into the Woody’s Pet Food Deli in South Minneapolis on 50th and Xerxes. When you walk in the door look to your right
… photos of that to follow!
Happy Monday!
Jackson Family!! minneapolis pet and family photographer
oh my goodness. I don’t know WHY I don’t do more family photography!!? I LOVE it especially when there is a dog involved!!!
This is the beautiful Jackson family of 5!! Amanda is one of the amazing women behind the Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue and when she asked me to come and photograph her family + pit I was over the moon excited!!! After a few delays due to someone showing up a little earlier than planned (hint hint … he’s 2 months old in the above photo and named Roscoe) and a slew of crappy weather days, we finally made it happen. I don’t think we could have asked for any better weather!!
They had a few ideas up their sleeve for their family photos which were great! When I got there, Grady was instantly hoping to play … we set his dogs up on his hammock, played with his Legos and he even helped me photograph Charlie!! He was right over my shoulder (or next to my waist because he’s just 5) and was really interested in everything I was doing. I sense he will be a amazing little artist and may even be after my job in just a few years
… what an awesome little man!!! he LOVED his crown and tie and was such a good sport the entire morning!!
he laughed and laughed and gave me nothing but sweet and silly faces or biiiig smoochies for his mom and dad.
and we can NOT forget Paisley. She is one of the prettiest pits I’ve EVER seen!!!
And she is an amazing jumper!!
… I got a LOT of this combination … pretty, happy and focused dog who all of a sudden decides “I want to nose your face!!!”
but we definitely got some calmer, lovely shots as well
Thanks Jackson family!!! … pt 2 will be ready to rock very soon!!

More than before I’m amazed at how quickly time can pass. Yes, a long day can feel like a long day, but when you look back on life it goes by in a blink of an eye. And since I really don’t understand how my life has moved beyond September 1st, these photos were pretty crazy to weed through. Pretty crazy and pretty amazing…
You may remember this peanut from her baby photos last November. Well, she’s gotten bigger!! And somehow, even cuter.
… and she has the sweetest expressions!!!
AND I was ecstatic to learn that the little onesie I made her before she was born still fit her in April!! y.e.s.!
While I can’t claim the idea as my own (you could {and probably should!!} buy one here) I did painstakingly make this one over the course of a few late nights in front of the fire with the girls and some wine … You may remember these photos from this post:
…and here is my little assistant!!!! Doesn’t she look like she is ready to tote a camera with a dog treat in hand??
amazing, right?? her excitement in the next few says it all … she can’t wait!
love ya, Char Mu!

This beauty is Charlotte.
Charlotte Murray Curtis
She was born on November 9th and is the newest apple in the entire Perdue clan’s eyes. I had the fortune to meet her over Thanksgiving weekend and I had a pretty hard time putting her down and giving her back to her parents
She is such an amazing little babe!! On Saturday we did a shoot to get some newborn photos of her before she gets too big …
Bah – she is ah-mazing! I feel like she is just as much my niece now as she would have been on September 15th of next year and I can’t stop thinking about how incredibly lucky I am to get to see her grow into a beautiful little person!! I’ve had my fingers crossed for a little girl for a while now so let this be an official declaration that there will be more little girl photos on here in the future. I have tutus, balloons, bubbles, headbands and a coffee bean necklace ready to rock. Auntie Jess can’t wait to play
Rice Family!
I posted a few weeks ago about a lovely, lovely 1 year old guy who was just a ham at a recent photo shoot. Even though his parents said he was more crabby than usual, I wouldn’t have guessed that! Yes, I could tell he had a bit of a cold and was teething but he was such a sweet heart and put up with everything so well, that it was such a joy to work with him (and mom and dad, of course)!
Thanks Leo, for being an amazing 1yr old!
while he did enjoy eating rocks more than posing, he was still an easy kiddo to play with. Here are just a few of my other favorite photos from this session…
so fun! Thanks again, Rice Family! I know I’ve said it several times, but you guys really were a great family to work with and I hope Leo’s 1st birthday was beyond amazing
Can’t wait to see what you do with these photos!!
this little one year old is such a cutie pie!!
I’m on the run but had to share some of what has consumed the last few hours of my life … editing photos of this excellent family. There are so many cute ones of these folks! Here are few of my favorites to whet that whistle while I take a break and then get back to it. Thanks Rice family!! You guys were great!!!
More about Lil Leo later!
Tony + Erin … part 2!
… I really do love people in love. You can’t help but smile and be happy! Here is part 2 – the much longer part – of all the fantastic cold fun Tony, Erin and I had last weekend. I had a hoot and loved so many of these photos that I had to post gobs of them. Enjoy!
For the engagement photos we decided to meet up in a park not too far from Hudson, WI. It was so sunny that it almost didn’t seem cold – almost.
One of my favorite things was how Tony could so easily make Erin laugh!!
What a WONDERFUL idea to go down to the dam! So pretty!! And a much easier water feature to get to!
… and last but not least, the ring on a pumpkin! Tony had a very creative and cute way to ask Erin to marry him – he cut a hole in a pumpkin, shoved the ring inside and waited for her to scoop it out. Nice job Tony!!

I can’t wait for your wedding this October! I am so excited to see all the cute and amazing details that you come up with! And in the mean time, let’s make sure we get our Sushi making date rescheduled
