brooklyn :: minneapolis pet photographer
one thing I’m really not shy about on here it going on and on about how much I love rescues and rescue animals and the people who rescue animals and so on and so forth. that’s why when this pretty girl’s dad contacted me for photos I was over the moon to do them! not only had I wanted to photograph Brooklyn when she was in the rescue, but I love success stories
Brooklyn is a gorgeous pittie who was found by St Paul Animal Control and taken in by the MN Pit Bull Rescue. And once she got to her foster home she never left
I remember seeing her on the roster of available animals and was excited to get a photo session lined up! She was so pretty and looked to have such a lovely soul, I just couldn’t resist. However she was scooped up too quickly for me to do that, which of course is more important
While it’s incredibly rewarding to work with the available rescue animals it’s amazing to get to see the relationship with a parent and their animal kiddo.
Isn’t she such a beauty!?! Another success story in the books

Every time I see Wylie I can’t help but giggle at the proportion of his body. Those tiny legs and that long body … so stinkin cute!!!
You may remember him from his photos last summer? On top of his awesome proportions, he makes some pretty great pup faces virtually on demand!!
… I definitely have some new favorite Wylie photos out of this batch! Happy Saturday!!
I am off to photograph a gaggle of pups at The Great Minnesota Pet Together who are currently up for adoption with the Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue. I am so excited to see the turn out, meet these amazing animals and hopefully help them find their forever home!! If you are looking for your next perfect pup or kitty, maybe today is your day!! Come on down!!
Sandy! :: minneapolis pet photographer
Guess who was crowned THIS month’s dog of the month at the Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue???
… this girl. Miss Sandy!
And when asked to describe herself she replied with:
Hi! My name is Sandy which pretty much describes my coloring. My foster family keep telling me I’m beautiful but I’m trying not to let that go to my head. They say I have some pretty wonderful wrinkles on my head but since I can’t see them, I’ll let you judge for yourself. I’m about 2 years old and a bundle of love! I have the wiggles so sometimes I have a hard time sitting still but it’s only because I love you THIS much! I love, love, love people and am a good cuddler who also really loves treats and snacks.
She is such a sweetie!!! You may have seen a few of her photos on Chocolate Moose’s facebook page or possibly the Pit Rescue’s facebook page … but even if that’s the case, I bet you’d like to see more
Seriously … look at those eyes! And that cute forehead!!! She is a doll and a champ for enduring the heat and bugs for these photos
Her foster mama gets that award too!!
As I always do, I encourage everyone thinking of getting a dog to adopt and not seek out a breeder. There are so many amazing dogs out there in need of homes and I have my fingers crossed that YOU might be Sandy’s amazing new family
If she strikes a chord, please contact the wonderful people at the MN Pit Rescue via email … adopt@mnpitbull.com.

Meet Charlie! He is an incredibly sweet, peanut butter colored, spunky pittie that is hoping to find his forever home. I had the pleasure of photographing him last week and I can’t say enough good things about him. He definitely needs a home with space to run and play and would love a family that wants to work with him on agility, training or even just lots of toy throwing. His foster mom LOVES him and can’t say enough good things. He is a people pleaser, does well with other dogs and cats and even has a 5 year old buddy who he gets along with very well!
He sounds pretty amazing, right?? Take a look for yourself!
He is a rather lean pup despite eating more than his pup sister. He has oodles of energy to burn it off but we think his metabolism must be incredibly high as well!
and to finish off his looks, how about snaggle tooth??
Irresistible, right?? He is available through the {amazing} Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue. Please contact them to fill out an application or send me an email {jessica(AT)chocolatemooseimages(DOT)com} and I’ll pass your contact information along. Hooray for rescue dogs!! They are THE BEST! Rescuing saves a life and makes you feel great for doing it
Canines & Cocktails on the Croix
… I know, I have some people hooked with just the title
But really, I’m super excited about this event!! There is an organization called ‘Friends of Stillwater Dog Park’ which is located in Stillwater, MN that is raising money to build a dog park. Last year they put on the wildly successful ‘Sushi with your Dog’ and this year they are hosing ‘Canines & Cocktails on the Croix.’ It is going to be held at Shanghai Bistro in Stillwater on June 23rd from 12-3, so grab tickets and mark your calendars!! There will be door prizes, pet photography by none other than Chocolate Moose Images (or, me), live music and discounted food and drink and tickets are only $10! It’s all for a great cause so I encourage you to go!! Please check out their website for more info on the organization and contact (651) 439-6688 for more details regarding the event.
And since all posts need photos, please enjoy Mrs. Mae from the MN Pit Bull Rescue. I’m SO excited to say that she did find a forever home after these photos were taken and it is lovely to think that I might have been able to help!! There are many other dogs available through the org, all of which are lovely. Please check them out if you are ‘dog shopping.’

2 1/2 weeks ago (wow! really? already?) I was lucky enough to spend my day with the awesome and incredibly talented Karin Newstrom taking photos of rescue animals that are available for adoption from Ruff Start Rescue as well as Second Hand Hounds. We went up to Sit Means Sit in Spring Lake Park and set up camp for the afternoon. During the course of the day we photographed nearly 40 dogs and cats that are currently looking for their forever home through the rescues.
While Karin worked inside with the studio set up, I had free reign of a box of kittens and a few pups outside
it was pretty spectacular and very, very hard to not take these little pumpkins home! Considering our weather that day I was extra glad that Karin had her set up. I got to be a lovely assistant for a change, learned a lot and only had my treat hand nibbled a dozen or so times. Thank you to everyone involved including, of course, the American Animal Rescue for organizing all of this. And I really hope this helps get more pups and kitties adopted!!
ps … these kittens were so small that those things that look like big grains of rice coming out of their paws?? those are baby kitten claws. yep. they were itty.bitty!!!
oh man … NOTHING cuter than a puppy in a basket … unless it’s a kitten in a basket. Yes, that would be cuter
Please visit Ruff Start Rescue to see more information on each of these animals and many, many others that Karin photographed as well. And I would encourage you to check out her post about these little at her blog here.
Besos!

What a snowy gem!
This is Sawyer and he is available for adoption at the MN Pit Bull Rescue. He is a complete sweetie and anyone with a yard for him to run will LOVE him!!! Check out his bio and then tell me you don’t want to take him home…
Hi! My name is Sawyer and I’m an incredibly handsome all white pit bull mix with sky blue eyes.
I just celebrated my first birthday on March 30th and would LOVE to find my forever home as a belated birthday gift. I have a lot of energy but also am a HUGE cuddle bug!! I love EVERYONE I meet and get along well with other dogs (especially my foster sister!)
So if you or anyone you know just has to take this guy home please contact the org (or shoot me an email – jessica{at}chocolatemooseimages{dot}com – and I can forward it along).
As a side note to this handsome dude, I am SO excited to be working so closely with this rescue to try to help these amazing dogs out!! It’s sad but pits often get overlooked at shelters and rescues but really, they are some of the sweetest dogs I’ve been fortunate enough to spend time with!!! I hope that these photos can help the pups find their forever homes!!! And if not, I might start begging my landlord to let me have pups
Oh man, the girls would hate me forever.
