The approach of summer is in one minor way bitter sweet – my cats are insane about wanting to go outside. Tarra specifically is so dramatic!! She sits at the door and just whines and whines and whines, like a puppy who needs to pee. And she is no longer satisfied with going to the basement – nope – once she gets through the first door then she sits at the door to the square and just meows and whines and meows and whines. Goodness. So as I shared a little while back, I got the girls tags for their impending adventures outside this summer.

A few weekends ago it was chilly but sunny and Mur and I decided we couldn’t take the whining any longer. He grabbed an old collar we happened to have, her new tag and a piece of string and I grabbed my camera and the kitty, and we were off. We didn’t go far – just the backyard – but I think Tarra loved it!

There were so many sights and smells to pay attention to! She darted this way and that and even got herself a wee bit tangled in her “leash.” We’re going to have to work on this a bit.

She also seemed to be a bit shy about the camera – for once. As soon as I put my camera near her face she would turn her cheek. Maybe instead it was that she just wanted a break from the paparazzi. That’s very likely considering they live with me 🙂

While our trip was brief, I can only imagine how many others we will have this summer. I sure hope the new folks downstairs A.) like cats and B.) don’t think we are crazy because we take them outside on a leash. ha!
