What a Sunday…
I started my morning out with a bang. Woke up at 7:30. Had 2 kitties sleeping at my knees. Made some coffee in my favorite mug. Sat in our breakfast nook and got out the computer. Kitties followed and curled up on my lap. I dove head first into months of photos. It was amazing!!
And by 11:00am, I had edited one of those months and created 2 blog posts. Horah! I then started doing other fun things. I created a set of menus for the rest of the week. Dinner tonight? Steak and a lemon risotto with cherry tomatoes. Yeah, it was delicious!
By 3:00pm I had established what the rattle was with my car. Spent quite a bit more on groceries than I intended. And scrubbed the weird kitchen stains out of my kitchen rug.
And by 9:00pm I had eaten delicious food, edited a fair amount of photos, spent a ton of time with my girls, spent a ton of time with Mur, established I will have amazing leftovers for lunch tomorrow and plotted this blog post.
I thought since I got through so much today I had to share some of the photos I unearthed. There are camping trips, cabin trips, a Twins game, the State Fair, weddings, a fabulous show downtown and good eats. Here is just a smattering of my summer fun:

Awesome party, right?

While I totally overbooked myself, and now know much better for next year, I still had a great time with everything!! I almost feel like I’m now headed into hibernation. Oh well – if the summer can blow past, so can the winter, right? Onward and upward!
Tai. MaiTai.
So I thought I would start my blog “come-back” with a pet portrait session. Why not? After almost 2 months of a hiatus, believe you me, I’ve got photos to share! And since this place is focused on portraits (and more so, PET portraits), let’s start there 🙂
Several (several!) weeks ago, I was up in Duluth on my way to some fun family festivities. While there I was asked to take some photos of the second newest dog to the family. Now, not to get too sidetracked, but our family is filled with a bunch of animal lovers. I did the math the other day and there are 7 of us people and between us 7, we have 7 cats, 6 dogs and 2 horses. That totals 15 animals. To 7 people. Hmm, I may have just sealed the deal on us being Crazy Cat Ladies… Meh – not too far from the truth.
Anyways, this new dog is a truck driving dog. And his name is Tai, which is short for MaiTai. He is a beautiful and young and spunky black lab. But really, what a great name for a pooch: MaiTai. It strikes me as a similar situation to me wanting to name my kitties Charles and Shaw. But that’s a different story.
Pat and Caren: these photos have only scratched the surface of the fun things I want to do! I’m excited to work with him more next time we meet up. Enjoy 🙂
Oh my – Tai has energy! He would run, leap, bark, catch, work for treats and do it all over again. And again. And again.
What fun! Perhaps the next shoot should be at the truck? I feel like that could be fantastically awesome!
off and away
Dear Labor Day Weekend,
I can’t believe you are here already! So many weekends this summer were scooped up by fun events and are now a thing of the past. Camping, Twins game, Iowa, rafting, kayaking, swimming, kitties!, good food, good friends, lots of beer. But really, is it time for fall Already?! I do love the fall weather and the leaves turning and the crispness in the air. Apple orchards are my favorite. I am craving more campfires and fires in my fire place, but it is all a bit bitter sweet. Even if things are warm, the days of summer are nice in large part because I know that those cold {super cold} crappy days of winter are a full season away. But now, they are right around the corner within sight. Oh well – can’t stop time so I will embrace another fall season.
Today is State Fair day in my house, and I can’t wait!! We are going to eat so much delicious food and see some animals and hear some music and eat some more food and take some photos.
And then our annual camping trip will be under way tomorrow. Off to Whitewater State Park for another great weekend of fun.
So in conclusion, Labor Day Weekend, you have come as a bit of a shock but I am excited for all the events (and photo ops) you have in store.
Jessica
ps… For everyone who has joined me on recent weekend adventures, I promise, I haven’t lost the photos.
the littlest kitten
I did a post a ways back about kittens in Iowa. But I made the mistake of leaving one little guy out …
He is by far the smallest kitten I have had the fortune to hang out with and take photos of. He was so cute. And so wheezy. And just plain adorable…
sooooo tiny and yet sooooo tough. He was trying his hardest to teach his brother some lessons.
I told Murray if he jumped in my car and came to MN with me, it wasn’t my fault. He quickly scooped ‘the littlest kitty’ up.
Wise man.
