Your Pooch Could Be Famous!

Hello all! I have some fun news that I’ve been trying to iron out for the last week….. Drum Roll….. I am on the hunt for canine models!
{you can click the image to make it bigger and easier to read}

need-for-dogs1

I am so excited to be offering this! I have ideas for projects that require some new fresh photos, so I’m calling out to all my blog readers {and your best friend, uncle, neighbor, coworker or anyone else that has a pooch} to provide the furry subjects. Because it would be much appreciated, like the notice says, you will receive a 5×7 print as well as more edited photos on my website to order from. Please contact me if you are interested! For all you kids in Iowa, I have been thinking about doing a day down there in July. Contact me via the website if you ladies are interested 🙂

On another note, I’ve been diligently working on rounding out my New Mexico collection of pictures (just in time to be going back to New Mexico for work.. i love travel!) as well as getting all my Taffy and Balloo pictures edited. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I spent the weekend with these kids a couple weeks ago. Taffy has tons of energy and is quite playful and Balloo is an older lady who knows how to get her way with the dog.

This little miss is Balloo. She is a 17 {maybe 15?} year old kitty who is quite loving and always anxious for her meals. Now, I have experience with my dog and this syndrome. Her tummy starts telling her hours before it really is time for dinner that it-is-time-for-dinner! She jumps. She paws. She howls. She likes to make herself clear what it is she wants so there really is no question. So does this cat. She meows and paws and meows some more. Balloo would even watch behind her as she went down the stairs to make sure I was following with the dish. Not probably the safest choice, but always good to double check.

And this is Taffy. She debuted on my site a couple weeks ago. She, unlike her cohort Balloo, seems to savor her food. She is more the lie on the ground and nibble type of gal. There was even food left in the bowl minutes later. And that is unheard of in my house. Anyways, a couple cute pictures of Taff.

I can’t wait to hear back from interested people for the FREE *mini* shoot! Pass the word to anyone who might be interested, and tell them to get a hold of me via Chocolate Moose Images.

In case anyone was wondering how the car search has been going, I can answer with, ‘It’s Going.’ It’s in the works for me to test drive another car and see if it is my perfect fit.

yeeee ha!

I love wedding photographers. I love portrait photographers. There is a particular style and feel to all of my favorites that I really can’t get enough of. They have an amazing amount of beauty to them in a fantabulous color pallet that I can not take my eyes away from. At my job, partof my job is to ‘keep up on photographers.’ That having been said, I spend the majority of my un-assigned time perusing photographers website and blogs and bookmarking those pages like it’s going out of style! I only wish some of these guys’ talent rubs off on me! If you are interested, here are some of my top pics…..

The Blog is Found… the wonderful blog counterpart to The Image is Found
Tara Whitney Photography …. she has this funky style that is a bit on the addicting side
Mammoth Men … just plain goofy! and oh so talented
a LEGO a day gets my vote for best 365 project! hands down… fantastic creativity.
Emily Steffen… i’m pretty sure i’ve linked her before, but she is so trendy, I just can’t stop looking! She is a former co-worker and lives right over the river in Hudson. Holla girl!
Erin Vey … I think she is located in Seattle and her dog is one of the most beautiful dogs i have ever seen. Second of course to Mrs. Roux. No contest.
Whitebox Weddings … CRANK the volume before opening this site. But be warned…. It’s hard to stop grovin to the musaaac. That’s coming from personal experience. Like right now….  ‘ tink tink tink …. love train …. tink tink tin’  That is my blog impersonation of a symbol and the song. I know, it was pretty self explanatory, but I thought some readers might not be as well versed in the provided blog/music /jess language 🙂
Sharon Montrose… she is a new find and I haven’t dove too deep in her site, but from what I can see, she is stinking awesome

Those are all the good sites I’ve got at home right now. I have another laundry list of regulars on my work computer. Any one interested in more just let me know! I can dig ’em up.

But now for the main reason I so eagerly wanted to get a post going tonight… I’ve got pho-tos! I finished about 1/3 of my travel images and selected a handful to add here. I haven’t made a big dent yet in the Taffy/Baloo shoot, but I will. Give me time.

these 4 photos were from the Turquoise Trail … a fabled ghost trail that leads between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. When I hear ghost town I expect… dirt, empty, bad paint and cow skulls. nope, here we had people, petting zoos, coffee shops and museums. What? That sounds like a tourist trap! It sounds like a less advertised version of Wall Drug. Not quite what I would call prime ‘ghost town’ material. Either way, we had fun driving around and seeing the beauty of the South West!

Who doesn’t love photos of cactus? I can’t help it, I do! They are so prickly and unappealing. Not what you typically would cut and bring home for your dining room table. Yet so photogenic!

these 2 are from the petroglyph national monument in Albuquerque. Same place my willing model let me snap his photos. I found this park to be so interesting because it was just outside the Urban Sprawl of Albuquerquewhich seems like an odd place to have a National anything. The hikes are great and pretty tame and the photos ops were plentiful, which I always love.

These are my Yuccas. These were the plants I dreamed about from the words ‘let’s go to New Mexico!’ I’ve had this vision of beauty in my mind of a sunset photo with the Yuccas at White Sands. Honest to goodness? The park was everything I hoped for. I would say “and even more” had we been able to camp. But no, missle testing overrides camping permits. Yikes! I know…

p1040970

More Yuccas, but these look like Pineapples which makes me feel tropical whenever I look at it. I might have to blow this up real big and hang it in my room. I can be in the tropics {of New Mexico} everyday with a piece of art like this at my bedside.

Additional photos to come. Either more from NM or more from the Castle animals. Or maybe more from random aspects of my days in MN. Who knows! Speaking of that {random life}, 365 is not going the best. I’ll get back on track. At least, I think I’ll get back on track. hmmmm. Until next time, have a spectacular evening!

Oh – I almost forgot!!!! I have a fun announcement I’ll be making in the next day or so. Keep tuned

on the hunt

I think that after 6 years of a stable and good relationship, my 18 year old Montero is on it’s death bed. And this beauty above is, well, awesome! Course this is a dream, and I’m bound to wind up with something significantly less cool, but wouldn’t it be nice?

Anyways – i’m making this post as a peace offering. I have been spending all week making plans for a car and researching vehicles so I haven’t taken a ton more time to edit photos. Alas, this weekend is our January birthday party but SUNDAY I will get back to a regular posting schedule – i hope…

For now, I have a little sneak peak of my time with Taffy, the softest golden retriever I have ever played with!

img_7725_sufuha

She was so sweet! I stayed with her over the weekend while her parents were away. More pictures to follow.

Have a lovely Friday!!

Viva New Mexico

img_7073_seventies

Oh delightful day of Friday, whoever created this day of ‘end’ was a great person. As I’ve expressed so often, I truly and deeply LOVE Fridays. It’s not that I don’t love my job, I just love the freedom to do anything and everything for 2 whole days. I can play with pictures on my computer. I can take my dog out to play. I can watch a movie. I can watch 2 movies. I can make a delicious dinner that takes all day. I can take a nap. I can drink wine. mmm wine. I can sing like no one’s watching – which I might add I am totally doing right now, because no one is watching.

…. anyways… To all you avid blog readers: you may have noticed I have been away from my ‘post’ for 2 weeks. Shout out to you! Thanks for checking in to make sure I was still kicking, you 2.  To keep you up to speed, I spent last week driving around the state of New Mexico and this week readjusting to the chill in Minnesota. And I’ve got pictures to prove it {the first part, that is}

With regards to the top photo you may be asking yourself, “Wow where did she get a photo of a model? I didn’t think she knew many models.” Oh no, I don’t, but that is infact Mur posing for me. He was such a good sport! Not only did he stand here and let me take pictures of him, he never once complained on the trip about the amount of pictures I took {ahem – 734}. What a keeper.

We covered over 3000 miles of this grand ‘ol country visiting a handful of state and national parks and some close friends of mine. I’ve got a few photos to post tonight but rest assured there are more to come alongside more detail of the trip.

img_7122_1-5_1-5_0

After a delightfully long day of driving Mur and I made it into Santa Fe, New Mexico. {insert long long LONG nap} After ‘doing up’ Santa Fe the best we could in 3 hours, we cruised down to Albuquerque and investigated the Petroglyph national monument. {insert above photo} . The entire trip it was like the sun gods were looking down upon me for photos and a sun burn. At this time of the year, the spring itch is so strong in Minnesota that even a 5 degree up swing is a blessing. Imagine a 50 degree change! We were absolutely wallowing in it!

img_7019

We spent a lot of time driving but we also took lots of time to sight see and wander in both parks and cities. This above picture is from a well know church in Cerillos. Now, what it is well know for i never did learn, but the light was amazing behind it, so I snapped some pictures.

…and that concludes… day 2. Yeah, I know. A pretty pathetic blog post but hey, I have been editing photos non-stop this evening on one of the slowest computers and i feel that before I throw it out the window or shove it down the garbage disposal, I should wrap it up and call it a night.

I promise to make another post in good time… “on my honor or else I be chopped up and made into soup”
