a day recapped
phew. back to a normal form of posting. and yahoo, 2 posts in 1 day!
I have been messing around all day on flickr and photoshop and learning quite a bit. Flickr isn’t the scary beast it once was, but we are still not the type of friends that would go out and have drinks after work. But i thought I would post a few more pictures from my birthday weekend because, well, why not?
That is Mur and I. This is actually from Jan 30th, but because I started taking pictures at about 10pm to ensure I remembered my birthday, I got some more ‘natural’ photos of us being, well, us {aka nutty}… there are many more where this came from but these were my 2 favorites.
…. on to the birthday…

As I think I mentioned, mur came up and we went and camped/cabined at William O’Brien State park near Stillwater, MN. It was a GOR-GEOUS day! {Regardless of what Rene in Texas says… :)} I had the window rolled down, I was running around in a light fleece sweatshirt and we even had lunch on our cabin’s porch. Couldn’t ask for better weather on January 31st. After lunch I insisted I take some photos and {I think just because it was my birthday} Mur obliged. The photo above and the photo in the previous post are examples of that. I think together with the photo from 2 posts ago (via my drive to work) I have a fun trilogy of images I’m going to do something with.
After camping/cabining, it was Super Sunday! We came back to my house to eat loads of food and drink oodles of beer. Then my dad sprung THIS bad boy on us!
It was AMAZING! It is a flour-less chocolate torte. I’m pretty sure the recipe is via a cookbook I gave my dad ages ago. I will always love his chocolate obsession and my lack of gift creativity resulting in an excess of cookbooks for the holidays.

This is just a fun photo. This torte goes delightfully well with Espresso, another one of my dad’s most favoritest things in the world {right behind Roux}. It was overall a very delightful birthday and thank you to those who sent wishes!!!
And I’m out – time to shut down the work computer and head home for the day. Thank goodness!

howdy! it seems funny to me that under most circumstances i would consider myself a pretty technologically savy person. With flickr, however, I am NOT! i just don’t understand things and i am usually working with a good amount of photos that to just test and play with things is a bit of a pain. {thank you Deb for all your assistance!!!} I have joined the party of people who are attempting to do 1 photo a day for a year. I started in January and already i have realized my life is boring. But that is not the point of this post. In fact, i just stumbled across the ability to post to your blog directly from flickr. Another thing i knew NOTHING about! So this is a bit of a test and a bit of a show and a bit of a link. I have all my photos from January uploaded to my flickr site and this specific image is from my birthday bash. Me gusta!
Have a lovely Tuesday, and I’ll post more pics later.
My Drive To Work
You have to admit with this picture, my drive to work looks quite beautiful. Well, don’t be fooled. I drive on the beltways of Minneapolis … 100 to 494 and then the left lane of 494 alllllllll the way across the river valley. ok, yes, the river valley can be quite lovely at certain times. And I guess I’ll admit I sometimes enjoy the rest of my drive because I get in the left lane and zoooooom past entrance-ers and exit-ers to get to my destination. It is true – I am turning into a city driver. I like to think I am not a jerk when I drive because I don’t honk (unless necessary, of course) and I don’t curse (when other people are in the car) and I definitelydo not flick people off (this one I actually never do.) Oh, and another thing I love? That the excuse for being late, ‘I got stuck in traffic’ is totally legitimate and really works! Never woulda worked in small town Iowa, that’s for sure…. But I digress – This photo was taken through my windshield on my way to work on Wednesday. There was fog the night before and because of that the trees were graced with ice and delightfully shiny. I love it!
AND by the way, it’s Friday. AND it’s the 30thof January. You know what that means? Tomorrow is my birthday! Not that I am fishing for birthday wishes or anything, but my day at work has been one of secrecy. The only person that knows/remembers had today off, so no one knew it was my bday. I had a few opportunities to pipe up and mention it but unless I know ya, I don’t force my birthday celebration on ya. That, and after I turned 21 my birthday just doesn’t seem to have quite the excitement it used to. That almost sounds tragic, like I’ve lost my excitement for life. Not the case, instead I love life! And I am real excited for my birthday! ‘mur’ is making another trip up to this iceberg of a state to celebrate my birthday and SuperBowl Sunday with me 🙂 I am starting my day with Mimosas and breakfast, some relaxing before going skiing/cabining and then having wine and cheese before ending my evening with a rousing game of Phase10 or Hand and Foot.
Have a lovely weekend everyone! Yahoo to football and food 🙂 I’m super excited to cook a bunch on Sunday – well, I am excited now. We’ll see after skiing.

Wordle.net
Because this is so cool i am counting this as my photo for the day. SOOOOO COOOL!!! I had seen it before but never have had anything to type in it so…… here is the text of ‘Who Am I?’ from my website. I thought that would be a fun thing to have rotated and ‘randomized.’

It could be the coffee that I had today or the lack of projects to do at work, but i am super excited about this! Go to www.wordle.netto make your own fun exciting filled wordle. For all you scrapbookers out there… Hello? SUUUper awesome, huh? I will be playing with this for most of the rest of my day. It will fit in between brainstorming beautiful ways to present a box of photos and sitting on hold with UPS trying to find delayed packages at my job.
Don’t get me wrong, I do work at my job. But blogging has turned into an addiction for me. It is really what keeps me going and busy at work during these slow times. I feel like it is my reward for working through the holidays. Today I came across this really neat site, Blogs of Photogs which highlights different fun blogs of different fun photographers. It is making my day much more exciting! I have so many new blogs to stalk. And by ‘stalk’ I do mean read about in a ‘fabulously intrigued, non-threatening type bystandered’ way.
So I’ve decided that something I need to do is spice up my bl0g. One little ‘pick-me-up’ this page could use would be more of a sense for the random. I’m pretty positive anyone who knows me just fell off their chair when reading that and thought, “more random? I don’t think this girl could be more random!” Yes, I have a tendency to not edit my thoughts before I blurt them out. This means I can go from talking about photography to talking about tatter-tot-casserole to talking about the beach. However, I find I do edit when I am coming up with subjects to talk about on my blog. Well, no more, I say! I admire the way Cathy Zielske , for example, can take a subject such as a photo from a Church Directory Portrait Session and turn it into a gut busting display of comedy only truly done justice by a spot light, a microphone and a dingy club. (By the way, in case anyone cares, that is an official statement about my belief in Cathy’s stand-up comedy skills.)
Anyways, to sum things up, I hope to make light of more random subjects to make my readers smile. With that, I hope everyone has a lovely Tuesday because it is the day after Monday, and just thiiiiis much closer to the weekend. Can’t complain about that 🙂

Ok and I couldn’t help but make a second Wordle. LOOOOOOOVE this!
