Lopey

Happy Day before Thanksgiving! I wanted to post some more pictures of Lopey, Murray’s dog and one that I photographed earlier this fall. He was sadly hit by a car 2 weekends ago, and past away this last weekend. What a life, though! All of the stories that I have heard make it sound like he loved life and loved living on the farm for his 15(ish) years. Here are a few more pictures of this spry guy. He will be missed!

Have a wonderful Holiday, everyone!

Mac’s Liquor

My dad has been going to the dog park near our house for quite some time where he has made friends with several regulars. It is a bit silly, but I have come to recognize the dogs a bit more than the people. Note to self: talk to the people more than the dogs 🙂 One of the regulars used to be Dave who is also the owner of a liquor store in Hopkins, MN. I first went in there a few months ago and was quite excited about the large beer selection and of course, the friendliness of Dave and his wife, Sue. Since then, my dad and I have been going to Mac’s Liquor about once a month to stock up on tasty new beers and the tried and true. It is quite a fun experience, to say the least, and Dave always has a new suggestion of things to try. This last time we went in, Dave was nice enough to put up a card holder for my business cards and told me I could bring in a display to hang on the wall and get some free advertising! I am so excited! I am not sure if my market really shops at a liquor store but hey, advertising is advertising and free advertising is the best! Therefore — anyone in the MPLS area who enjoys some laughs and some good tasting beer should stop by Mac’s on Saturday mornings to visit Dave and Sue, a couple of very nice people.

On a more dog related note, i’ve been editing some more Roux pictures today. I have a mini deck series that only includes 3 images, but I think they show a lot of her energy 🙂

As I went over in the last post, boy does she love that ball! She was so wound up, it was almost hard to get good pictures of her. Not that hard because she is such a cute pup, but a bit of a challenge. That is ok! Cliches aside, I love challenges! Regardless, I think I got some more fun ones. I think she will be home with me tomorrow morning, so I might do some more before work.

Until later, cheers! Enjoy your Thursday!

Brr it’s winter-ish!

According to the weather, I think I can officially say that Fall is out and Winter is in. We may not have snow yet, but I felt that chill you get all winter, most of yesterday. During our raking project and definitely standing outside last night.

Speaking of last night, I wanted to mention a fab-u-loso show that I went to with my dad and his good friend Pete. We went and saw Sonny Landreth at the Cabooze, which is a real awesome bar in Minneapolis. (Thanks to Karissa at work… thanks a bunch!!) He is an amazing guitar player and has worked with so many other amazing people, resulting in some real amazing music! If you are interested, I would recommend his music. He just came out with a new CD which is quite lovely!

Today was a bit of a gloomy day in MPLS. It is only 5 but it sure feels like 8. I did quite a bit of what I wanted to do today, which is impressive:
* finish book that is already overdue at the lib… shoot
* eat more apple pie
* finish the Sex and the City movie — I would give it a 4 in comparison to the series and general “chick-flick” likability
* work on Christmas presents
* TAKE MORE ROUX PICTURES!!

More Roux pictures, you say? Why yes! I say! Here is little miss roux, an endless bundle of energy. I was having a hard time getting her to do anything for me but run. You can only take so many charging at you pictures.

woods vintage

We explored the woods a bit in the back. There was this nice reed type grass that we played in and got some fun pictures. She caught a whiff of something, though, and was soon totally uninterested in what I was doing.

jolly ball

I’m not sure if it’s because the Jolly Ball has been taken out of Summer storage, or if this toy is really her winter toy, but she can not get enough of this bad boy. She first fell in love with Jolly Balls at my aunt’s barn, where it is a horse toy, and soon had one of her own. She (and the ball) are the hit of the dog park when it comes with us, and I think it is the only toy she cares enough about to not share. She was tearing up the backyard for quite a while.

porch roux

Finally, I tried to do some more on the porch with her. I like the lines of the boards on the ground and the railing, however, I sometimes just can’t get what I want. I think I’m going to need to bring the chair back outside and try some more with that. I wonder if I could make little chair boots to go over the feet so that I could take it outside in the snow. Hmm… things to ponder.

Pondering I will, but for now, it’s too gosh darn cold out in “Ya Sure You Betcha” Minnesota to not get me some Cocoa! Have a good one!!

Etsy Update!

I am excited because last night I spent some time weeding through my favorite photographs picking my most favorite to list on Etsy. Check it out! I am also excited because tomorrow morning I think I might go door to door to the families that have dogs in the neighborhood to let them know about me. I am so unsure about how to market myself, that I really haven’t done anything. I have a blog. I have etsy. But anyone who looks at that already knows me, so I need to GET-OUT-THERE!

I ordered some new prints today and edited some of them in the a new trendy style 🙂 I think it’s time that i own up to my problem. My name is Jessica, and I am a Photoshop Brush, Pattern and Action addict. I can’t stop! I have recently discovered the lovelyness that are brushes, patterns and actions, and I use them pretty much all the time now.

tower

I love the old-ish look to this picture! I am so excited because I got a print made to hang up in my room to make me feel more like I’m still in Europe. Ha! We’ll see if that works. I’m pretty sure the fall foliage outside my room and the suburban sounds are going to be a pretty good tip-off that I’m still in MN. Oh well – I can hopefully get back there some time soon!

And guess what else? Today is Wednesday. That means that tomorrow is Thursday, which is the day before Friday. Gotta love it! Have a happy Thursday everyone!!
