big news…
so I’m not a big person to gush and share too many personal details with many people but this seems like something I should probably share …
this is my beautiful new ring. a lot of people might say this is a long time coming. and really, family would definitely say that
but nevertheless, after 6 years together, Mur and I are planning a big hoorah to celebrate us getting married!
… and now since family and close friends know, it seemed time to take photos of the jewels. it’s frickin HOT outside right now, but since my neighbor has an amazing array of flowers that seemed like the perfect setting for these images, I decided to sweat it out and make this happen.
ok … that’s enough oohing and ahhing
but I’m suuuuper excited and while I plan to keep the blog {mostly} pet centered I can also promise that super exciting wedding details will show up here. Because really, what girl can keep wedding details from a reading audience?
Tony + Erin … part 2!
… I really do love people in love. You can’t help but smile and be happy! Here is part 2 – the much longer part – of all the fantastic cold fun Tony, Erin and I had last weekend. I had a hoot and loved so many of these photos that I had to post gobs of them. Enjoy!
For the engagement photos we decided to meet up in a park not too far from Hudson, WI. It was so sunny that it almost didn’t seem cold – almost.
One of my favorite things was how Tony could so easily make Erin laugh!!
What a WONDERFUL idea to go down to the dam! So pretty!! And a much easier water feature to get to!
… and last but not least, the ring on a pumpkin! Tony had a very creative and cute way to ask Erin to marry him – he cut a hole in a pumpkin, shoved the ring inside and waited for her to scoop it out. Nice job Tony!!

These guys were so much fun to work with I can’t wait for their wedding this October. I mean really, who doesn’t love an October wedding?? Here is just a preview of the coldness but cuteness from Sunday.
Horay! You guys rock and I can’t wait to show the rest!!

… And no, I am not turning my business towards weddings even after the wonderful summer and fall I have spent shooting. It’s still not going to be my focus BUT I’m warming up to the idea of doing a wedding or two every once in a while. The couple would just need to be awesomely cute!
This last wedding that I worked on with Emily was on 10-10-10 in a tucked away little spot in Wisconsin. The location was a small, budding vineyard and the decorations were all handmade crafts. Totally my style.
When we got there, Macey {the Bride} was just arriving and finishing up the details. She had sign painting, furniture moving, light hanging, table decorating and self beautifying to do.
My guess is that Macey comes from an all around creative family. While Macey came up with some of the greatest little decorations, her mom used her talents to make this incredible bouquet of fabric, buttons and jewels transformed into amazing little flowers. This was Macey’s bouquet…
And because of the location, we got the most amazing photos of Macey’s dress … Magnifique!
… love love LOVE that dress photo. Love.
… simply GORGEOUS bride!
The setting was absolutely amazing which makes photos come so easily. Seriously – if all weddings were this gorgeous then I could TOTALLY make this my job…
oh yes … and all brides have to be this fun too. That’s my other requirement. No Bridezillas, please.
Horay!! Happy beautiful, vineyard, DIY wedding, Macey and Justin!

I started my morning out with a bang. Woke up at 7:30. Had 2 kitties sleeping at my knees. Made some coffee in my favorite mug. Sat in our breakfast nook and got out the computer. Kitties followed and curled up on my lap. I dove head first into months of photos. It was amazing!!
And by 11:00am, I had edited one of those months and created 2 blog posts. Horah! I then started doing other fun things. I created a set of menus for the rest of the week. Dinner tonight? Steak and a lemon risotto with cherry tomatoes. Yeah, it was delicious!
By 3:00pm I had established what the rattle was with my car. Spent quite a bit more on groceries than I intended. And scrubbed the weird kitchen stains out of my kitchen rug.
And by 9:00pm I had eaten delicious food, edited a fair amount of photos, spent a ton of time with my girls, spent a ton of time with Mur, established I will have amazing leftovers for lunch tomorrow and plotted this blog post.
I thought since I got through so much today I had to share some of the photos I unearthed. There are camping trips, cabin trips, a Twins game, the State Fair, weddings, a fabulous show downtown and good eats. Here is just a smattering of my summer fun:

Awesome party, right?

While I totally overbooked myself, and now know much better for next year, I still had a great time with everything!! I almost feel like I’m now headed into hibernation. Oh well – if the summer can blow past, so can the winter, right? Onward and upward!

Yet another week almost gone. And another weekend of fun fun fun is almost upon me. Can’t wait for this one! Mur and I managed to snag some tickets to what promises to be an amazing show at the Walker Sculpture Garden put on by the best local music station, The Current.
Can’t wait! I heard such great things about last years show and Mur and I need to get out more, so this is the perfect solution. Now let’s all cross our fingers that the weather holds out!
And then Sunday is the big Dad’s Day. Not positive what the plan is yet – it will for sure involve a BBQ, a new batch of home brew beer, a fantastic breakfast and most likely some fun. Get your party hat ready, dad. Sunday is going to be a BLAST!
So… the point of my post mentioning Wausau, WI? We’ll last weekend I had the fortune to shoot a wedding with the lovely and talented Emily Steffen.
She is so fun and funky and fabulous, that it’s awesome to be able to shoot with her! Last weekend, Emily, her lovely assistant Katie and I ventured over to Wausau, WI to shoot a wedding. It was an incredibly beautiful wedding with amazing flowers, lovely dresses and fabulous linens! One of my favorite things about weddings and parties – and life! – are the details. The little things is always the stuff I want to remember most. I feel pretty confident I will remember each event (worth shooting) by itself, but if I don’t have a photo of dinner or of the candy wrappers or the disheveled bed-head, how am I going to remember the awesomeness. Details – it’s where it’s at
Now, if you’ve been involved in weddings in the sort of way that doesn’t really allow you to eat a ton, you will appreciate how tortuous it was for me to take the far right image. I was as starving as an artist. Ha – bad joke.
These darlins were fun to work with for their mom’s wedding. It was all about getting dressed up for Haley (on the left), who absolutely loved twirling on the dance floor. And riding in the limo. And calling me Mrs. Photographer Lady.
I must say, I am starting to really like helping out with wedding photography. Weddings are still not the route I will go, but they are real fun because the pressure isn’t on you. Oof. Keep em coming, girl!
